The movie picks up where the first film left off. Dr. John Dolittle (Eddie Murphy) has been living with his wife, Lisa (Kyla Pratt), and their children. However, his ability to talk to animals has become a secret once again. The story revolves around Dr. Dolittle's efforts to protect a forest and its inhabitants from being destroyed. Along the way, he befriends a bear named Pupa, who becomes a crucial part of his mission.
