The story takes place several years after the events of "The Silence of the Lambs". Mason Verger, a wealthy and powerful publishing executive, seeks revenge against Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who had previously maimed him. Verger teams up with a new patient, Jimmy, who is also seeking revenge against Lecter.
