Plot and Structure Neerparavai follows the life of Shanmugam (Sasi), a fisherman from a traditional coastal village, and his wife Mary (Saranya Ponvannan), whose relationship is tested by poverty, caste tensions, religious identity, and the dangerous life at sea. The film opens with present-day markers but often uses flashbacks to reveal the couple’s past: their courtship, the dreams that led them into marriage, the hardships of earning a living from fishing, and the tragedies that befall them.
